Climbing ropes, slings, harnesses, carabiners, chockstones, jams, nuts,
slides, friends, figure eights, rescue and other friction devices, gear and rope
bags, crampons, ice axes, rock shoes or climbing shoes and all the climbing gear you need is just a click
away.
For Ropes visit nerope.com. Research your rope wisely, know the difference in
ropes and how they are rated. Don't just buy a rope "cuz you like the
color". Your rope is your life and your buddy's life, know every inch of it
treat it with respect and try to keep it as clean as possible and totally freak
out on anyone who tries to step near it let alone on it. New climbers (who may
be using the rope) should probably go with an 11 mm as it moves slower through
belay plates and other friction devises and is more forgiving for less than
perfect anchors and edges. Thinner ropes move faster through belay plates and
friction devices but are lighter to carry or lead with. I have been a climber
for over 15 yrs I'll be buying a new 11mm rope I like the added strength and
abrasion resistance. Length of rope is really a matter of where you climb. I
think longer is better (though I once ran a bit shy on a 320 foot sheer cliff
and got a chance to think about what is important in life, which is a longer
rope and a second rope and good decision making skills when route planning) pick
a longer rope. Go dry! Never climb on a static(rapelling) rope, ever! Climbing
ropes are dynamic and stretch to absorb shock. Rope and Carabineer links
North East Rope - nerope.com
authorized dealer of New England Ropes Climbing
Equipment and Outdoor Gear Click Here! Remember if you peel from under 10
feet you will most likely hit the ground just so you know, always check your
crash zone. As you get off center rope if you fall you will swing and or spin
and swing pendulum like so plan for it. Falling is failure so don't fall. You
are not climbing once you start falling. The
key to climbing is in your mind and your positive attitude and assessment of the
route and rock. Trust in your good equipment, don't buy shit or climb on shit.
Trust in your instincts and always keep at least 3 points of contact on the
rock. Climbing develops skills that make the non-vertical world a little easier
to walk through. Feel the rock and use gravity to your advantage, climb with
your legs and try to keep your arms closer to your chest (when possible) and
wearing a helmet is good! | |
