Rock stoppers, nuts, chock stones, stoppers or crack jams are all climbers protection for inserting into cracks by lead climbers when rock climbing. Rock stoppers slip into cracks and hopefully stay put! It is a good idea to
test these out and get used to placing and removing them from above and below.
Falling on stoppers and other crack jamming nuts tends to really set them into
the crack to where they are a real chore to pry back out so don't fall ok? Like
any protection it works best in your mind. So why bother putting it to work?
Most protection is used in lead climbing and by very experienced climbers who
have logged miles of top rope climbs and have given up falling. If you are not
very experienced at climbing or have not had training or experience with using
stoppers, nuts, bongs (not that kind of bong) or cams (not that kind of cam)
then you don't need to start collecting stoppers. Learn how to use stoppers properly before
buying any. Remember you have a lifetime of rock climbing ahead of you, keep it
that way! Climb on! Click on the description of the various sizes of stoppers
